CAREER, TECHNICAL, AND AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION

Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational skills to prepare students for post-secondary education and the workforce.

Career Technical and Agricultural Education is the cornerstone for preparing students to be "College and Career Ready."

Our mission in CTAE is to involve as many students as possible in a variety of work experiences so that they may explore different career fields and gain valuable skills that will prepare them for their future.

 

Pathway Description(s)

Architectural Drawing and Design

This pathway is designed to give students knowledge of all major aspects of residential architecture, construction documents, software, drawing media, plotting, blueprinting, and 3D printing. Students will learn to use AutoCad and Revit Software to develop detail house plans, specifications, and codes necessary for Architectural drafting.

Engineering Drafting and Design

This pathway is designed to give students knowledge of all major aspects of Engineering Drafting and Design though Detail, Assembly and Working Drawings. Students will learn AutoCAD, and Inventor, drawing media, plotting, blueprinting and 3D printing.

Metalworking

Students will learn basic safety skills along with the different types of welding and cutting processes needed for acquiring a career in welding.

Electrical

Students will understand and practice construction safety. Students will know, understand, and apply general construction and specific OSHA and EPA safety concepts and practices. Students will use tools, instruments, and equipment in a professional and safe manner. Students will understand the identification and installation of conductors according to NEC. Students will have the ability to install a variety of fixtures. Students will have an understanding of voltage, resistance and current and how they relate.

Residential Carpentry

Students will understand and practice construction safety. Students will understand and apply math concepts as applied to construction. Students will demonstrate knowledge of blueprint terms, components, and symbols. Students will use basic hand and power tools in a professional and safe manner. This pathway is designed to give students knowledge of all major aspects of framing residential construction.

Army JROTC

We are a very exciting program sponsoring over 100 activities each year. Instructors do not recruit for military services. Students who complete 3 semesters of JROTC are exempted from taking health and physical education. We prepare students to be successful after high school.

Business Management and Communication 

This pathway is designed to provide students with skills in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs along with knowledge of business operations.

Information Technology

This pathway is designed to introduce students to the world of digital media including Photoshop, Flash, Web Design, Internet and video principles. This course incorporates Microsoft Office for Industry Certification.

Marketing and Management

This pathway is designed to give students knowledge of all major aspects of starting, building and running a small business. The school-based enterprise (The Warrior Wigwam is used as the learning lab for this pathway).

Culinary Arts

Preparation is provided through one of three venues:

  1. Preparation for a collegiate Culinary School.
  2. Preparation for a career in foodservice
  3. Preparation for life by learning a valuable life skill.

Early Childhood and Education

The Early Childhood and Education pathway prepares students for employment in early childhood care and education services, Mastery of standards through project-based learning, laboratory application, technical skills practice, and leadership development activities of the career and technical student organizations will provide students with a competitive edge for either entry into the education global marketplace and/or the post-secondary institution of their choice when continuing their education and training.

Companion Animal Systems

Companion Animal classes prepare students to work in the small and large agriculture animal industry. Students will be offered the opportunity to learn in the classroom along with hands-on experiences in the perspective field through the National FFA Organization, Agriculture Education's intra-curricular student-led organization.

Horticulture and Animal Science Diversified Agriculture Systems

This pathway combines two industries in the agriculture field. Students will be prepared to work in the large animal industry along with the horticulture field. Students will be offered the opportunity to learn in the classroom along with hands-on experiences in the perspective field through the National FFA Organization, Agriculture Education's intra-curricular student-led organization.

Patient Care

Occupations in the Health Sciences represent the largest and fastest-growing industry in the United States employing over 10 million workers in more than 200 careers. Those considering a nursing career should have a strong desire to help others, a genuine concern for the welfare of patients and clients, and an ability to deal with people of diverse backgrounds in stressful situations.

Allied Health and Medicine

Occupations in the Health sciences represent the largest and fastest-growing industry in the United States employing over 10 million workers in more than 200 careers. This pathway is suitable for focusing on a career path in medicine, or work in any of the following including but not limited to: Orthopedics, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, MedSurg, Gastroenterology, Urology, and Customer Care Services.

Work-Based Learning (WBL)

Work-Based Learning (WBL) is an opportunity for students to utilize the skills that they have learned in the classroom/pathways and also discover new skills in a work environment while earning class credits. During the WBL journey, students gain valuable work experience and network with a variety of potential employers while submitting monthly time cards, journal assignments and being evaluated by their employers and school Work-Based Learning Coordinator. In order to be accepted in WBL, students will fill out an application, interview with the Work-Based Learning Coordinator, and shown where they have maintained good grades, attendance and discipline throughout their high school career. It's an excellent way to test-drive a career while still earning school credits.
