Back to School 2020

Welcome to the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School 2020-2021 school year! The first day of school is Monday, August 10th, and we can’t wait to begin. Here are some tips to help get you ready for an awesome school year!

Schedule/Chromebook Pick-Up: Students can pick up their schedules, purchase a parking permit ($25), and pay their supply donation ($30) during schedule pick-up. Due to social distancing restrictions, we are working on a new procedure for schedule pick-up. Once finalized, the plan will be posted on our website. Early schedule pick-up will not be available for students who have proof of residency questions, owe cafeteria charges, have not turned in textbooks, chrome books (including charger and case) or library books, or have other financial obligations.

Open House: Due to social distancing restrictions, we are working on a plan to accomplish this remotely.  Once finalized, the plan will be posted on our website.

The first day of school is Monday, August 10th.  The school building will open each morning at 7:00 am. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:15 am.  Students will report to the gyms after eating to maintain social distancing.  Students arriving after 8:00 am are tardy.  Regular dismissal is 3:15 pm.

Distance Learning: Distance learning will be available on the APEX Platform. There are limited elective courses available through APEX. Students who desire to participate in band must attend face to face classes for that block. Click here to enroll your child in distance learning.

Social Distancing: Students are strongly encouraged to wear masks and social distancing will be practiced to the greatest extent possible. Naturally, class transitions, assemblies, lunch, and class sizes will be modified.

Sanitizations: Classrooms, restrooms, and hallways will employ a strict sanitization process. Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the school. Bottle fill water fountains have been installed on each hall.

Visitors: Nonessential visitors, volunteers, and activities involving external groups or organizations will be strictly limited. All visitors will be required to wear face masks and will be subject to temperature checks.

Lockers: To facilitate safer class transitions and reduce congestion in the hallways, lockers will not be available for rent this year.

Dress Code: When purchasing school clothes, please ensure they follow the guidelines in the Catoosa County Student Handbook. Thank you.

Seniors can purchase a reserved, customized, parking spot for an additional fee.  See the school website (in late July) for reserved parking information including personalized painting information.  All funds collected for senior parking will go directly toward senior activities.

Lunches: The free/reduced lunch application is located on both the school and the district websites. You can complete it from your home. It’s simple and only takes a few minutes to complete.

Supplies: Do not worry about purchasing supplies before school begins.  Very few supplies are needed and schedules sometimes change during the first week of school.

Parents of current LFO High School students, if you are interested in serving on the local school governance team for a 2-year term beginning in August 2020, please email Principal Charles Nix at [email protected].  Mandatory once per month meetings are required.
