Golf

Rusty Parkhill is excited to start his fourth year as Boys head golf coach here at LFO.  Coach Parkhill has an extensive background in the game of golf, having worked on both the retail side and the professional side giving lessons and advice for many years.  He brings a wealth of knowledge about the mechanics and management of both the golf swing, and the course management aspects of the game.  Coach Parkhill is a graduate of LFO in 1993 and the University of Phoenix in 2013 where he majored in education and now teaches US History, American Government, and Economics at LFO.  He has been married to his lovely wife Chrissy for 24 years and is a father to two great kids Jonathan 18 (LFO c/o 24),  and Lulu 15 (Sophomore LFO),  both aspiring young golfers themselves.  Coach Parkhill also is the executive producer and co-owner of Scenic City Sports the wildly popular local sports podcast that covers local sports and news.  

Matt Scantland is entering his first season coaching golf this year and will be the head coach for the girls golf program. Prior to coaching golf, Coach Scantland coached basketball for seven years at LFO and will look to bring his insight from the court to the course while teaching students about aspects of a different sport. Coach Scantland has played golf since his teenage years and is currently a member at Creeks Bend Golf Club. Coach Scantland has been married to his wife, Molly Scantland, for two years and while they have no children they do have two dogs who act as such in Andy and Maddux. Mr. Scantland has been at Lakeview High School since 2016 and has taught both World and U.S. History. Mr. Scantland graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2016 where he earned his Bachelor's in History and Master's in Secondary Social Studies Education. Mr. Scantland has also earned his Educational Specialist degree from the University of Augusta
